The Pentax 10x50 PCF WP II are certanly not the bestbinoculars around but they deliver excellent quality for the price andI think will satisfy most amateur astronomers. For anything better youwill have to spit out much more $$. I can highly reccomend thesebinoculars for everyone, especially beginners as you will not have anyproblems which may plague entry-level binoculars. The Pentax aresturdy, with great optics and every astronomer knows s/he has to have agood 50mm binoculars always by their side!

I decided on a pair of Pentax 10x50 PCF WP II (I decipheredthis to Porro Center Focus Water Proof) which looked good on paper andhad a reasonable price. First of all, I trust Pentax optics to be verygood, as I have two of their eyepieces (I still have a 14mm XL I won ona Cloudynights contest!) and their amazing 105mm apo. Of course, thereare a lot of chinese binocular clones out there but this one seemsdifferent. It has a 50 degree AFOV, it's filled with nitrogen and alsowaterproof. The body is rubberized and it's comfortable in my mediumsized hands. There is no problem holding the binoculars in cold weatherwith your bare hands when you just have to take a quick look but do notwant to put on your gloves.
