Canon PowerShot G12 digital camera offers a full range of shooting and recording modes with new, exciting features such as High Dynamic Range (HDR) scene mode. Offering added flexibility to photographers, this scene mode allows for multiple shots to be combined into one image helping to capture the full magnitude of a scene that consists of very dark tones and bright highlights producing greater image details.
|The Canon PowerShot G12 was also thoroughly tested on technical aspects in the DIWA lab. The technical tests take place under standardized circumstances, in which the camera is extensively screened. We use these DIWA tests as a base and guide to complement our practical experience, and to have a secure way to be able to compare test results with those of previous models. The DIWA lab is a place where a condition is created through standardized circumstances, which allows cameras, compact and system cameras, to be compared with each other effortlessly. Additionally, the Canon G12 camera is used extensively in practice in order to assess control and photography aspects. Such a combination of lab and practical tests result in a thoroughly balanced, final assessment.|
|Canon PowerShot G12 mini-EOS camera
With everything you notice that the Canon PowerShot G12 was derived from the well-known EOS DSLR camera. This mini-EOS camera has a user interface that is very similar to the larger system cameras. In practice, this means a lot of buttons, setting- and command dials, to access the desired functions directly. For anyone who does not have much experience in photography it may all appear a bit overwhelming, but the ‘photographer’ will recognize the value in it. A good example is the separate settings dial for lighting compensation and a dial for ISO on top of the camera.
Canon PowerShot G12 operation
A small, but effective improvement in the camera’s control is found on the front of the Canon G12 camera, where a new command wheel has been placed in the top of the hand grip.
|Adjusting the desired aperture value or shutter release time is easier than in the G11. The smart, programmable quick button has remained, to which one of the eighteen available functions/settings can be dedicated.
Photography with the Canon G12 advanced compact camera
The Canon PowerShot G12 is an advanced compact camera. It is actually a small version of the EOS, with big aspirations. The camera can be largely adjusted to one’s own wishes, which makes photography more pleasant than with a standard configuration. In practice, it is really great shooting with the G12. The camera’s menu is very familiar for a Canon photographer. The settings are clearly layed out in a couple of tabs, for fast navigation. Favorite parts/settings are included in the separate My Menu Tab, so that you can avoid losing time by having to search the menu for functions that you often use.
In addition, the Canon PowerShot G12 digital camera is the first PowerShot G-series model ever to feature 720p HD video recording capabilities with stereo sound.
The new Canon PowerShot G12 digital camera is equipped with a 5X-Optical Zoom lens with Optical Image Stabilization and its wide-angle capabilities starting at 28mm, which will help when trying to get a sweeping landscape into one image.
